Now known as the Orix Buffaloes, this Japanese baseball team was established in 1936 as simply the Hankyu Club, In 1946. they became the Hankyu Braves and the Orix Braves for two years starting in 1989. In 1991, they moved to a new ballpark in Kobe and became known as the Orix BlueWave. The change was shocking to fans, however this short run as the Blue Wave brought star players such as Ichiro Suzuki, So Taguchi, Troy Neel, Takahito Nomura, and Shigetoshi Hasegawa to town. The Blue Wave captured a championship in 1996, before changing their name in 2005.
