The Colts were a transitioning team that was made up largely of the former Houston Buffaloes front office and began play in the shadow of the construction of what would become The Astrodome. Harry Craft managed every season for the team and despite talent on the roster, the team never had a winning record. As a result, the team finished last in attendance in 2 of its 3 seasons. Colt Stadium and the Colt 45's name were abandoned when the Astrodome was finished and the stadium was eventually dismantled to build 2 other stadiums in Mexico.
