The Chicago Rockets were charter members of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) and were created as a way to get into professional sports when their owner's attempt at buying the White Sox failed. The team was doomed from the beginning competing against the already established Cardinals and Bears. The Rockets attempted to sign players away from the Bears including Sid Luckman, George McAfee, and Hugh Gallarneau but were unsuccessful. In their final season, the team rebranded as the Hornets.
