Playing at the top-level of the sport in Italy, the team folded in 2004 and was replaced by a new team. In North America, Stefanel Pallacanestro Trieste is best known for having had Michael Jordan on its roster for an exhibition game sponsored by an American shoe company in 1985. The highlight of that contest was Jordan's backboard shattering dunk.
