The Blitz were championship favorites behind hall of fame head coach George Allen. After blowing a 21-point playoff lead the team was sold to a new owner who refused to pay big contracts. In the biggest trade in sports history, the Blitz traded their entire roster and coaching staff with the Arizona Wranglers. Another hall of fame coach Marv Levy was hired, but it wasn't enough. The team finished in last place while the Wranglers went to the championship with their former players. Angry fans stopped attending games and the Blitz folded at the end of the season.
