After one unmemorable season as the Anaheim Amigos, a charter member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), this franchise became the Los Angeles Stars in 1968, where Hall of Famer Bill Sharman became head coach. Poor attendance prompted a relocation to Utah in 1970. A record crowd of over 13,000 fans was on hand when the Stars defeated the Kentucky Colonels to win the 1971 ABA Championship.
