Central Hockey League (CHL)

The original Central Hockey League (CHL) was a minor league circuit established in 1963 as the Central Professional Hockey League. The name was shortened for the 1968-69 season. Over the years, the CHL welcomed teams from other leagues that had gone out of business, including the International Hockey League, the Western Hockey League, and the World Hockey Association.  In 1992, the name was revived for a new league. The new CHL played until 2014.
