Los Angeles Thunderbirds T-Shirt

The LA T-Birds were the world's most popular roller derby team from the 1960s until the late 1980s. They were part of the outlaw league, Roller Games, which consisted of skaters who left the original Roller Derby league. Their matches were televised nationwide, and from 1965 to 1972, the Thunderbirds drew larger home crowds than the Lakers or Kings. Successful teams also emerged in Japan, Australia, and Canada. Skaters like Ralphie Valladares, Ronnie Rains, Shirley Hardman, Terry Lynch, and Gwen "Skinny Minnie" Miller became household names in Southern California.
