The Gunslingers were best known for their strong defense nicknamed "The Bounty Hunters." Off the field, however, the Gunslingers were more known for financial problems. Players had to race each other to the bank to cash their paychecks, knowing half of them would bounce. The franchise was eventually revoked by the league when the owner stopped paying bills, though they did make it to the end of what would be the USFL's last season in 1985.
