The Texans had been a planned team for years with the San Antonio Riders of the World League and Calgary of the Canadian league both having plans to become the Texans at different points. Finally, in 1995, the Sacramento Gold Miners made the move in their search for a more suitable stadium. The team was successful on and off the field, with solid attendance. Stars David Archer and Joe Ferguson made the move to Texas. Unfortunately the the league scrapped their American experiment at the end of the season and the Texans lasted just one year.
