Collection: World Hockey Association (WHA)

The World Hockey Association (WHA) was established in 1971 by Gary Davidson and Dennis Murphy, the duo that hatched the American Basketball Association (ABA) and would later form he World Football League (WFL). The WHA played its first season in 1972 with twelve teams.  In 1978, after a seven-year, pitched battle, the established league absorbed four teams from the WHA.
