The Colts were a transitioning team that was made up largely of the former AAA Houston Buffaloes front office and began play in the shadow of what would become The Astrodome. Harry Craft managed every season for the team and despite talent on the roster, the team never had a winning record. Joe Morgan, Jimmy Wynn, Turk Farrell, Rusty Staub, and Bob Aspromonte were some of the team's first stars. Still, the team finished last in attendance in two of its first three seasons. Colt Stadium and the Colt 45's name were abandoned when the Astrodome . The old stadium was eventually dismantled and the parts used to build two other stadiums in Mexico.
