The Los Angeles Dons were a solid team, on the field and at the gate, throughout their existence, but played in the tougher of the two divisions of the All-America Football Conference division (AAFC). With the Browns and 49ers in their division, the Dons came up just short of the playoffs every season. The majority owner was businessman Fernando Gonzalez III, with minority stakes held by Hollywood notables Louis B. Mayer, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby,  and Dom Ameche. When the league merged with the established league, the Dons players went to the crosstown Rams.
