The Knights were added as an expansion team in the Arena Football League's second season. They had hoped to attract fans with former New York Giants players Jim Crocicchia and Edwin Lovelady. While the first game drew a decent crowd, a brawl broke out in the arena and items were thrown on the field. With a struggling team, and dwindling crowds, the team folded after just one season.
