The Southern California Sun played two seasons in the World Football League (WFL) from 1974-75 as one of the league's charter members. The Sun were well known for their magenta and orange uniforms. L.A. Rams Hall of Fame WR Tom Fears coached the team to winning records in both seasons. Although they were one of the top teams in the league, the Sun lost their only playoff game when three starters refused to play because they had not been paid in weeks. In 1975, the Sun added future Rams great Pat Haden, as well as former University of Southern California stand-out Anthony Davis. The team had the best record in the WFL's Western Conference when the league folded in the middle of the season.
