Team: Fort Worth Black Panthers
Years Active: 1916-1929
While their origins are unknown, the Panthers are known to have played in the Texas Colored League beginning in 1916. The team was managed by league president Hiram McGar. The Black Panthers played in various Negro Leagues around Texas over the years with their final stop being the Texas-Louisiana Negro League. The Great Depression proved to be too difficult for baseball and both the league and Black Panthers folded in 1929.
