The Honolulu-based Islanders represent one of if not the biggest professional sports success story in Hawaiian history. The team didn't only produce star players, but also had many notable sportscasters in their short time including Al Michaels, Ken Wilson, Les Keiter, Mel Proctor, and Al Conin. Unfortunately, travel proved to be difficult with visiting teams playing as many as 8 games in a series to avoid making multiple trips. When attendance declined, the team couldn't sustain the long travel and the team moved back to the mainland.
