The Monarchs played in the PCHL in it's second existence following WWII. The team was successful, however its opponents in Southern California were not. With few teams in the area to play against, the league removed the Southern Division and the Monarchs were left without a league. The Monarchs live on however as an inspiration for the Kings which joined the big leagues in 1967.
