The Memphis Hound Dogs were a proposed pro football team in 1993. The team name originated from the fact that Elvis Presley Enterprises was an investor. The team was rejected and the Carolina and Jacksonville were chosen as expansion cities instead. One of the investors continued the effort and created the Memphis Mad Dogs which played in the CFL for one season.Â
