The San Antonio Dragons of the International Hockey League (IHL) started off in Peoria, Illinois in 1982 where they were known as the Rivermen (after being called the Prancers for their first two seasons). They moved to South Central Texas in 1996 and played in San Antonio for two seasons before folding.
