The San Antonio Wings began as the Florida Blazers (well, really the Washington Ambassadors), charter members of the World Football League (WFL). Following their World Bowl appearance in 1974, the Blazers' owner went to prison for cocaine trafficking ending the franchise after one season. The team's assets were then sold to a group from South Central Texas. Johnnie Walton, Jim Strong, and Mark Kellar were a few of the stars that played for the Wings.
