The Baltimore Blades were the former Michigan Stags and arrived in Maryland halfway through the 1974-75 World Hockey Association (WHA) season. They'd only spent a few months in Detroit, after two seasons as the Los Angeles Sharks, before packing their bags. Upon their arrival in Baltimore, the city's struggling American Hockey League (AHL) team, the Clippers, folded. The Blades soon followed, barely finishing the season.
